Welcome to the UK Six Metre Group

Six Metres can be exciting and frustrating in equal measure, but it's

never dull. And despite what you might have heard, it's far from

dead despite the poor solar maximum. Working DX on 50MHz

is never going to be as easy as on 20m, but that's the whole

point - if it was easy, it wouldn't be half as much fun!

New UKSMG Secretary

We are delighted to announce that David Bondy, G4NRT has agreed to take over as UKSMG Secretary. The Chairman, Chris G4IFX, who has been covering the role for the past few months, the last couple of months, will be handing over to David over the next few weeks. Welcome, David!

The 'new look' GB3MCB now operational

Most will be familiar with the GB3MCB beacon in IO70. It has been upgraded and is currently running a 1 minute cycle comprising carrier, Call-Sign in FSK and data in PI4 format. Still on its original frequency of 50.043MHz, it is the first beacon on 50MHz in the UK that will eventually form part of the synchronised beacon chain. The upgrade has been funded by UKSMG. UKSMG latest Sponsorships

UKSMG recently helped to sponsor FT4JA, a French team led by Seb F5UFX. The team put Juan de Nova Island on air during early April 2016 and made 218 QSOs on 6m - 158 in Europe and the rest in JA.
