Not sure where this should go so please forgive me if it's in the wrong place!

If I select 6M OP Google Map from the web site it shows my QTH inaccurately by several miles. However, if I go to my profile, the map at the bottom shows my QTH very accurately. Does anyone know why this is and how I can fix it please?

Many thanks

Hi Brendon, your user profile data used to pin point you on the map only shows your town, if you give me your lat and log coordinates I can get closer to you with the accurace that Google Maps allow as per Trev's post above,

Hi Brendan, this cropped up a while back.  This was my response at the time:

Further to the earlier queries about the accuracy of the pushpins we use on the google maps facility on the site, I have just finished reading an interesting article on the subject.  Basically, it appears that the geo-coding information used by the google API is different to that used by the google maps application as suggested by Dave in his reply.  Apparently Google acknowledge the discrepancy but are being rather cagey about timescales to fix it if it gets fixed at all.  If anyone wants to read further, the article is on page 162 of the June 2008 edition of PCPRO.

OK folks, many thanks. There was a similar query regarding the accuracy of maps on QRZ.COM I believe. My location from Google Earth is: 51 21.744N 0 53.915W
