G100RSGB (Verulam ARC) currently on 50.170

Ian, G7RIS

GB3BUX and the co-sited 2 meter repeater GB3HH are currently off air due to major constructi on work in the locality which keeps tripping the mains power. The beacon should be back on air after the constructi on work has finished. Cheers

Dai, G8FXM

Congratula tions Chris and Mike. I noticed that the bands was open to weak CW sigs from VE this morning also, so hopefully things are starting to look up.

Chris, G3WOS

Band opened to to the far east today for the first time this season. Mike G3WPH and myself connected with BA4SI in PM01. He was not that strong and was only in for a few minutes but it's a start! And, I bet he was a little confused with these two calls being nearly the same in CW! Chris

The Verulam (St. Albans) Amateur Radio Club will be operating GB100RSGB on Wednesday' s 19th June and 26th June from the clubs operating location "the cabin". The site is 240m ASL and has a clear take off for many miles in all directions and is located at IO91RU. The club has constructe d a yagi for 6 Metres which has a 5 meter boom length on its own tower, height above ground depends on wind speed on the day but at least 30ft and more likely 60+ft. See for more info.

Next weekend is the IARU r1 50 MHz contest, commencing at 14 hours UTC Saturday, ending 14 UTC Sunday. Exchange is RS(T), serial number and FULL 6 digits locator. Example: 599 004 JO01XX A 4 digits locator exchange will nullify the contact. You can easily find your locator on this map or on any web based QTH calculator like Full rules on page #64 at GL

Just a reminder for the 70-MHz & Cross-Band Contest next sunday

Chris, W3CMP

Hello all: Warren VO1KS has just informed me that he has a number of the Larcan solid state 1.5KW amplifiers available. Units he has will cover 6 and 2 metres, and 222MHz. I'm hoping to attend the G3WOS BBQ in August and if anyone has purchased one and I can bring it along without too much hassle, I will do so. Contact VO1KS directly if interested .

6M BBQ that is! -

Chris, G3WOS

I am holding another on Saturday 3rd August 2013 in Farnboroug h, Hampshire UK! There will be plenty of food and drink, lots of 6m guys to talk to and argue with and XYLs are positively encouraged ! I hope that we will see an even better turn out of non-UK 6m enthusiast s. For those wanting to stay over on Friday night, many will be able to stay in the same hotel (The Falcon as in 2011) and I will organise another great 6m dinner for the Friday evening! The UKSMG will hold their AGM at 10:00 at a local restaurant as well. Jim - KH6/K6MIO will join us to give presentati ons on Update on Cycle 24 and The remarkable extreme east-west Es that occurred on the 27-30 June last year and Josep - EA3AKY will present on last years' D64K DXpedition . The cost of the BBQ will be around 35 UK Pounds and will need to be paid in advance of the event. If you are keen on 6M how could you miss this event? 73 Chris G3WOS -

6/4m Beacon, GB3BUX (io93) has been off the air for a few weeks .I am trying to find out why . But no one knows for certain.

G1ZJP, Bob

Just a note to say that if all goes to plan, I will be active in the Summer Es Contest to give points away. I am unable to be active all contest as it clashes with our Club's Annual Rally on Sunday. Best of luck to everyone, 73 Bob G1ZJP

Unfortunat ely, the C6AFP/B, 50.040, in FL16, Abaco, Green Turtle Cay, The Bahamas, developed a significan t chirp that my friend, C6AGN, couldn't pin down. As of last night, it was in the US and headed for a repair point. I hope to get it fixed and back down there as soon as possible. Not sure how much FedEx is going to charge me to send this thing to Green Turtle Cay but that is the only option vs. waiting for whenever for someone who is going to an island of 300 residents to haul it down there. Think the movie, The Castaway. Interestin gly, the beacon is still operating on the six meter Ringo that John Walker, WZ8D, took down there to our place at least 20 years ago. That antenna has been through too many serious hurricanes to count and it hasn't yet come down, no tuning issues, etc. Certainly amazing. I will advise when it is back on the air or at least headed in that direction. Regards, Steve, N4JQQ/ C6AFP
