GB3MCB Beacon Fund

Many of you will be aware that UKSMG funded the running costs for the GB3MCB 6m beacon last year. It is now that time of year again and GB3MCB is again very short on funds, the total needed to fund just the 6m beacon for the next twelve months is expected to be around £130. Whilst UKSMG are not in a position to permanently fund this, or any other beacon, we would like to help keep this well reported beacon operational. GB3MCB is actually a cluster of beacons covering several bands and is located in a relatively sparsely populated area of the UK amateur wise hence the funding difficulties. If you would like to help keep this beacon operational, please make a small donation via the button on the right of the screen.UKSMG has started the fund with £30 this year; the PayPal donate system should allow donations in any denomination and currency. Any and all donations made will be used solely to keep the 6m beacon operational. The donation button will remain until the end of September.

VU hams licenced for 6m

Amateur Radio operators from India have once again been allocated use on 6 meters. The new allocation on 50-54 MHz includes activity on the following modes: F1B, F2B, F3E and F3C. "We will be trying to get clarifications on why A1A and J3E are missing but more importantly J2B for AFSK modes", says VU2PTT, Prasad. VU operators with General Class license can now operate with 400 watts on HF, which is up from the previous 150 watt limit.(Thanks to W3UR and The DailyDX for this item)

New interactive 50MHz Beacon list.

Dai G8FXM, has been very busy working hard in providing us an up to date 50MHz Beacon list, and I have been working closely in providing assistance to provide audio and realtime comments. Therefore, Dai can bring you a comprehensive list of Beacons in a list which is interactive and where you can submit your observation real time and hear the Beacon as recorded by the observer and these are available to download as an Audio file in the Audio column far right of the Beacon entry. I have recorded several of these Beacons to get the Database running . All members and Beacon hunters are asked to contribute and so we can provide the very best interactive Beacon list available online to our 50MHz community. How to get started, Go to UKSMG drop down menu, Go to Beacon info go to Beacon lists. You can search by callsign, add comments etc . We have a Beacon Map as well available . I would love to hear any feedback on users of the Beacon link and I will pass your thoughts and suggestions on to Dai, G8FXM. Please send feedback to g6tgo@uksmg.org
Enjoy.

A couple of days ago Col MM0NDX received an email from Sid ET3SID asking for help in supporting 4 newly licenced amateurs. All 4 students took the RAE city & guilds exam sponsered by the RSGB,although the four have passed the RAE they cannot get thier licenses until they have radios understanably they cannot afford to purchase radios and equipment so several of us decided to start a group the name of the group is ARIE,in short we need anything from a PL259 to a radio cash donations are also welcome as these will enable us to send the equipment to Ethiopia. Once we have set the students up we hope tobe able to go on and help others in a simular situation. please see ETsupportfund@googlegroups.com for cash donations contact chriswood@iom.com GD6TWF 73 malcolm...M0xat....membership no 2216
Submitted by Malcolm, M0XAT

A group of us will be active from The Gambia (C5) in a few weeks, arriving 25 June and departing 6 July, with the usual focus on 6m. We will be operating from what should be an excellent location on the beach, so we hope to make many QSO's. Look for us on 50.103. Our callsign is still pending and I'm not sure yet about internet access -- more details as they become available.
73, Arliss W7XU
