Activating membership

Hi all.
Can anyone tell me how long it should take after paying a paypal full membership subscription (which shows as completed) before full membership of the group becomes active?
So far it's a week has passed and I've heard nothing and I'm still showing as a non-member.
I have also emailed the secretary and still have heard nothing.
Any ideas at all please?

Hi Slim, sorry for the delay, there's been a big response to our recent mailshot so I have a big backlog and it's taking me a while to get through them all. Unfortunately registering membership is a manual process! You'll receive a receipt asap.
